Spell Lords Minis is a spinoff of the original Spell Lords series. The story centers around Planet Kazaar's ongoing tournament to choose the next house that will protect the kingdom against the Noctus, mystical creatures that feed off of magic. The 12 houses of Kazaar are Zel, Alar, Caval, Daga, Konus, Lor, Mor, Naraak, Tah, Tork, Vahli, and Yoki. Each house holds a Book of Power engraved with its family crest. These books power the houses and its members draw power from the house at will through mystical markings that appear on their bodies.

In a war stretched across centuries, the battle between the Spell Lords, a race of sorcerers that live in a magical kingdom called Kazar, and the Noctus, a race of mystical beasts that feed off of magic and energy, continues. With the help of an Angel named the Protector and the Crystal of Power, the Spell Lords have fought off the Noctus successfully. In order to even up the odds the Noctus orchestrate an attack that wounds the Protector and leaves her for dead. Near death, the Protector releases the Crystal of Power from her grip and returns its power back into the 12 Houses of Kazar. Now a tournament to find the one House that will defend Kazar against the Noctus has begun. The winner of the tournament will gain the power of all the Houses and use the power to protect the kingdom. In addition to the Noctus, a rebellion of sorcerers called the Outsiders are against losing their powers each year and have turned to Red Magic to overthrow the kingdom. However, the fate of Kazar lies upon a 16 year old boy named SIKO who recently discovered that he has powers. The secrets of his past along with powers not yet fully realized hold the key to uniting the kingdom and restoring the balance of power.
